I've been a DJ since the 1980's, specializing in Jazz,
Funk, Soul, Hip Hop & R&B. My love for DJing started with 2 belt
drive Technics turntables and a cheap phonic mixer. Eventually, I
graduated to 2 Technics 1200s ( later 1210's )and a much better
mixer. Additional equipment was added until with a few friends of
mine I had what you'd call a mini-studio. This comprised of an Atari
ST running Cuebase, Amiga for sampling, Yamaha SY55 keyboard (
thanks Raj ), 2 SL1200's and a couple thousand vinyl records. My
partner in crime back then was Jay or more recently he goes by the
name of Mr T. I guess he was the "selector/producer" and I was the
DJ. So you see it was only natural to eventually start mixing
MP3's.... |

| Scratch LIVE |
| The Scratch LIVE interface connects almost any computer to an ordinary pair of turntables or CD players, and the software faithfully tracks every subtle movement of the stylus on the included control records. The same movement is then instantly applied to any digital audio file in the user's collection producing a sound and feel that is indistinguishable from vinyl.

| Running natively on Windows XP and Mac OS X, the software has all the features of a modern DJ player, including beat extraction, real time tempo metering, waveform coloring based on spectral content, multiple cue points per track, and full iTunes library integration. Tailored for performance work, tracks are rapidly located via full text search of ID3 tags, or even recorded directly from a microphone, and assigned to turntable control with a single key press.. |

| The included 12" vinyl records each have a Serato exclusive and unique control signal which allows Scratch LIVE to track the motion of the record, simulating the same movement with digital audio. Due to Serato's proprietary control scheme, the result is a feel and sound indistinguishable from playing vinyl. As a producer and DJ, the track you finished today can be played on a real turntable tonight. You'll never have to cut a dubplate again.
